Feedforward ANC vs. Feedback ANC
Single-Microphone Limitations
Standard feedforward ANC places an external microphone outside the earbud housing to detect incoming sound waves before they enter the ear canal. While effective against high-frequency continuous noise, it cannot verify the actual sound arriving at the eardrum. Conversely, feedback ANC places an internal microphone within the acoustic cavity, listening to what the user hears. However, it struggles with higher frequencies and can mistakenly filter out sub-bass musical details. Hybrid ANC harmonizes both methods for total acoustic control.
